At the Department of Law, University of Gothenburg, exciting, cross-disciplinary research and education is conducted.

Since the autumn of 2004 a modernized LLM programme is offered, introducing new pedagogy, role-play and simulations, increased use of IT resources, several new courses and cooperation with practicing legal professionals. The aim is to adapt the LLM programme to societal changes and to the internationalized study environment. Successful participation in both national and international law competitions has contributed to the modernization process and has furthered the already good reputation of Gothenburg students. Beside the LLM programme the department supplies optional courses and programme courses for postgraduate students of economics and engineering, as well as tailored courses for professionals.

In recent years the department research efforts have lead to the founding of several new research centres focusing on environmental issues, social security, intellectual property, for instance. Being a part of the School of Business, Economics and Commercial Law, the department has great opportunity for interdisciplinary collaboration with other departments of the school, as well as with industry and society. The department also cooperates with a number of international universities, with other University of Gothenburg faculties, Chalmers University of Technology and other schools of higher education.
